Hygiene masks are in high demand in Mexico City as people are rushing to stores to buy them. One man says he walked around for hours seeking masks before he finally found some.
A woman says she feels scared and she cannot find anti-virus medicines anywhere.
The Mexican government is calling on citizens to avoid crowded places and stay at home as much as possible.
About 500 events including music concerts have already been cancelled. Soccer matches and swimming competitions are still being held but without any spectators in attendance.

WHO discusses outbreak of new flu
The head of the World Health Organization has indicated that swine flu outbreaks in Mexico and the United States could develop into a pandemic. However, much more information is needed.
Later, the WHO held an emergency meeting of world experts to discuss how to respond to the outbreaks.
WHO Director-General Margaret Chan told reporters on Saturday, that the current situation is serious and needs to be closely monitored. She said the outbreaks have the potential to cause a worldwide pandemic.
However, it is too early to say whether they will or not. Chan added that there are no signs that the swine flu virus has spread to other areas.
At the 3-hour-long WHO emergency meeting, experts were expected to discuss a possible raising of the WHO's pandemic alert level from the current 3 on a scale of 1 to 6. Details of the talks have not yet been revealed.
Chan said it would take a few more days to determine whether or not the WHO needs to change the alert level.
